Every visit to INTERGEO is a reminder of how quickly the geospatial and reality capture industry continues to evolve.
What I find most interesting about events like this isn’t simply seeing the latest scanners, sensors and software. It’s seeing how individual technologies are becoming part of increasingly connected workflows from data acquisition and processing to analysis and final delivery.
After more than 15 years working with 3D laser scanning, point clouds and geospatial data, I still find it valuable to explore new approaches, compare technologies and talk to people solving similar problems in different ways.
Because new technology alone is rarely the answer.
A faster scanner, a different sensor or more automated software can open up new possibilities. But whether a technology is actually useful depends on the problem we are trying to solve and the output the project requires.
That is probably one of the reasons I still enjoy events like INTERGEO. There is always something new to see, question, compare and learn from.
The technology keeps evolving.
The important question remains the same:
What does the project actually need?
